We are afraid of ourselves... our deepest darkest selves. In turn, we become afraid of each other and the differences of belief and standards we ourselves cannot get a grip on within our own beings.
Its only those who have a peace about who they are and the world around them that you will see not acting irrationally against others.

I'd just like to say that fairy tales are society's way of introducing children to the world in a protected way. Children listen to how the wolf was dangerous and they learn that there are dangerous people in the world. what would happen if all children were protected of knowing about things such as death ? it would hit them much harder.

Also, you cannot say british culture is dying. culture is not something that dies, it just changes and moves on with society at that time.

I do however believe the statement you make about religion. and if all were of that that belief there probably would be less war in the world!

and lastly...my children are not playing on the the net, they are playing in the snow!

Brilliant post. If only more boys had this much introspection... On the other hand, I would take the balls to be honest over introspection and delayed apologies any day!

They do come, sometimes, though- these apologies. One guy turned up at my house last year, fifteen years after the event. Let's just say a LOT of water had gone under the bridge, and this particular teenage pre-relationship changed my perception of men and probably tainted all following relationships forever.

Just have fun with other girls until you find her, that's all! Don't have to treat em bad either, it's known that you gotta go through a few relationships before one feels actually perfect with that special connection.

Benazir Bhutto was assassinated by a suicide bomber in Pakistan, would you say that was a freedom fighter or a terrorist, was he or she protecting his/her homeland ?
if it gets worse and united nations intervenew will you accuse them of invading the country or will they be trying to stop a bloodbath. Which ever soldiers go in will be just doing their job.

I can't stop being what I despise. I can't stop doing all the things I hate doing. Am not proud doing what I do? There disgusting repugnant things yet I manage till even now to still being dong those things I hate.
Its like am slowly destroying myself and I know it but I can't stop it. I tried going cold turkey and it didn't work. I’ve tried slowly withdrawing it out my system but that doesn't work.

what exactly are you doing ? maybe you should consider some kind of counselling

the picture is very disturbing, the soldiers are sent their for a reason...to stop the people you describe as merely defending their homeland from killing each other, how about showing both sides, like a picture of one of the young soldiers injured whilst doing his job, my son was unfortunate to be in the gulf war at 19 yrs old, luckily he came home, disturbed but alive.

Yeah I can see your point and I've often thought the same thing. It can be a very fine line between freedom fighter and terrorist. During the fall of Berlin at the end of WW2 boys as young as 12 in the Hitler Youth fought to the death to protect Hitler and his Ideology. We would say that these were fanatics indoctrinated by the Nazis but they saw themselves as heroes and freedom fighters.
I think another point we have to take into account is the acts of some of these so-called insurgents. If they are attacking military targets then that could be called resistance however suicide bombings in crowded market places are hardly the acts of a freedom fighter.
BTW that picture has seriously disturbed me and I think we can all agree that for whatever reasons people think they are fighting for war is a pretty disgusting thing
